The Three Treasures Farms Mission

Our vision is the creation of a system that:

• Provides horses with individually-tailored rehabilitation and training programs geared to restore health and soundness, giving the horses a second chance at a career either in the show ring or as teacher.
• Provides a large number of disadvantaged children with an opportunity to learn basic horse skills.
• Provides an opportunity for disadvantaged children interested in having a career in horses the skills and exposure they will need to succeed in the horse industry.

Our mission is to create a system that:

• Serves as a resource center for the care and development of rescue horses, and disadvantaged children.
• Provides a safe atmosphere in which self esteem and learning are enhanced.
• Creates a community of horses and people that value harmony and well-being.

Why 3TF services are invaluable to disadvantaged children:

The profound healing effect animals can have on children has been written about for centuries and is now considered common knowledge. Childhood is a time in which we define who we are as people. The messages we receive as children stay with us for a lifetime. 3TF offers children a place of center and a chance to feel empowered and in control of something bigger than themselves. The same skills learned for riding a horse can be applied to facing challenging situations throughout a person's life. 3TF offers a variety of classes, from the very basic of how to handle and care for a horse to the more advanced material children would need if considering a career in horses such as showing, colt-starting, and equine massage therapy. A career in horses can be many children's dream, but few can afford the expense that comes with owning horses. 3TF creates an opportunity for children who otherwise would not be able to consider a career in the horse industry by providing them the all-important training necessary at a young age for a life in the horse industry.

3TF also gives performance horses a second chance at a meaningful life. Frequently show horses are treated more like expensive cars then living beings, to be discharged for a newer, better model when the old one begins to show signs of wear. By bringing chilren together with these horses, 3TF allows the children to aid in the rehabilitation of the performance horse and the two are able to grow and heal together. Many of these "throw-away" horses simply need longer time or more resources or to be competing at a lower level, but still have a lot of knowledge and skills to share. For the children wanting to further their knowledge and skills specifically in the show ring, these horses and ponies then provide the children with that opportunity.
