Equine Massage Internship Program

Our interns have successfully completed our Equine Massage Class series before they are able to enter the Massage Intern Program. The Intern Program consists of a minimum of a year's worth of self-directed study as well as many hours of class time studying and practicing more advanced techniques.

As part of their practicum work, the interns must begin to work on an increasing number of horses outside of Three Treasures Farms. This exposes students to a wider variety of issues to be resolved and allows them to work on horses who have not had the years of massage experience that our horses have received.

Horse owners wishing to participate in this program need to arrange to have their horse attend one of our intern classes, so that the horse's needs can be assessed by the class as well as the instructor. The horse owner may then network with one or more of the students to provide continuing massage care for the horse at a discounted rate. Massage rates increase as the students gain experience, and range in price from $10 - $40 per hour.

For more information or to make arrangements for your horse to attend one of our classes, please email us.

Interns

Jessica Asa

Jessica Asa has been involved with horses since she was a child, working for several local trainers and barns with their Arabians, Morgans, Saddlebreds, Quarter horses, Paints, and more. She has been exposed to the worlds of cutting, reining, calf roping, saddle seat, dressage, western pleasure, hunt seat, and competitive breed shows. As a 4-H member, she competed in high school rodeo and Quarter horse shows. Years of volunteering as a ring steward and talking with horse show judges strengthened her ability to look at a horse's conformation and gait.

Her interest in equine massage came about several years ago when her AQHA mare suffered a career ending injury. A combination of care including massage let her mare maintain an active, pain-free lifestyle for several years. Significant illness in her current horse brought her to Three Treasures Farms, where she has studied equine massage and rehabilitative care.

Nicole Sulick

Nicole Sulick is a licensed massage therapist who lives and works in Oakridge. She has advanced training in deep tissue massage, acupressure, Reiki, Cosmic Healing Chi Gong and Pranic Healing. She is currently using the Three Treasures Farms Massage Intern Program to expand her massage techniques to include horses.

Learning equine massage has given Nicole a new respect for how sensitive horses are, and she appreciates the deeper connection she is able to build with the horses she's worked with.

In her spare time, Nicole enjoys hiking with her family (which includes her husband, two kids and three dogs), yoga, gardening and reading.
